Today I have a glitter gradient with gel polish. I used Kiss Color Gel Sweet for the base, and Galaxy as the glitter.
Sweet was impossible to capture in pictures. It is more green and a little brighter than this in person. Depending on the lighting, it goes between a light kelly green and more of a teal color.
Galaxy was a little disappointing, only because I expected it to be a full coverage silver glitter. The tips are 3 coats or Galaxy, and they are not even close to opaque. However, it is still a very nice silver glitter and worked very well for this gradient.
And here’s one of Sweet on it’s own. Sweet applied great and the quality is a lot better than I expected from Kiss. I used 3 thin coats for full coverage.
I got these from Meijer for $9.99 each, and they are .3 oz bottles, which is typical for gel polish.
I just recently joined the word of at-home gel manicures. Polish never lasts more than a day or two on me, and although I like to change color often, I do not like chips. I have been considering a gel starter kit for a while now, but didn’t like the 2 week commitment to the same color. While browsing Meijer one day, I found the Sally Hansen Insta Gel Strips starter kit on clearance for $13.99, and decided it was time to take the plunge. So far, I am loving gel polish, even though the mini-one-finger light is a pain to use for a full manicure.
One of the first gel polishes I bought is Sensationail’s Purple Orchid.
Purple Orchid is a deep purple with subtle purple and blue micro-glitter. The polish applied easily, although it did not have as much shine as other gel polishes I’ve tried.
This close-up shows the purple and blue micro-glitter.
Overall, I really enjoy this polish. It is a perfect purple, and showed no signs of wear during the week that I wore it. What are your favorite gel colors?
