Today, I have some awesome nail polishes to share with you from a new brand, Authority Cosmetics. Authority Cosmetics are vegan friendly, cruelty free, and the nail polishes are 5 free! Everything about the brand, from the bottle design to the formula of the polish screams professional. It is obvious that Kristy has a real passion for her business and she cares about the product she puts out.
I’m going to talk about the formula first, as it was consistent throughout the polishes I tried. It’s a perfect consistency, and the polishes are super pigmented, some being one-coaters! Each polish dried quickly and most dried to a very shiny finish on it’s own. Especially for cremes, the formula is smooth and not one bit streaky. The colors are great too, almost neon but not quite.
Mermaid Tail is a bright turquoise/green creme. I only needed ONE COAT plus top coat. This one dried to a satin finish.
In person, Mermaid Tail is a bit more green that the pictures show.
Gumdrop is a pink creme with a blue undertone. This was the sheerest of the polishes I tried but still only needed 2 coats and dried super shiny.
I typically do not wear or like pink polish, so Kristy challenged me to try Gumdrop out. I hate to admit it, but this is a pink I can get behind.
Surf’s Up is a bright coral creme, it leans more orange or pink in different lighting. This one dried shiny on it’s own, I used two coats plus top coat here.
Last but certainly not least, Cosmic. This is a dark blue metallic with teal shimmer throughout. The shimmer is really beautiful, and in bright sunlight, changes the polish from dark blue to teal. I used 2 coats plus top coat, but this could have been a one-coater with a thicker coat.
The pictures really do not do Cosmic justice. The teal shimmer was very hard to catch on camera, but in person it is perfect!
Cosmic reminds me of Marc Jacobs Blue Velvet, except Cosmic has better execution and the shimmer is much more prevalent.
I am so impressed with Authority Cosmetics that I’ve already ordered a couple more polishes! Right now, you can get 30% off your purchase through Cyber Monday. Each polish is normally $14 for a 15 mL bottle, and you can buy them here. You can also follow Authority Cosmetics on Facebook and Twitter.
Kristy is also offering an exclusive discount to the Cosmetical readers! Starting Tuesday December 3rd, use the code TheCosmetical20 for 20% off your entire purchase! This code will last through the end of 2013!
